Rema
Shrikant has had intensive training in Bharatnatyam,
Mohiniattam, Kathakali and Kuchipudi under
veteran masters.
Her parents, Guru Krishna Panicker and Gauri
Panicker, both dancers, initiated and taught
her dance. She has done Masters' degree in
Performing Arts with specialization in Bharatnatyam
from the Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara
and under the guidance of Prof. CV Chandrasekhar.
Rema has performed in major cultural capitals
of India and around the world. She has presented
her choreographies in various prestigious
festivals: the recent among these have been
the Uday Shankar dance festival, Kolkata;
Gujarat Sangeet Natak Academi festival, Gujarat;
Kerala Kalamandalam- Nila dance and music
festival, Kerala.
Besides having established herself, as an
internationally reputed classical dancer Rema
has also been teaching dance in Baroda for
more than 33 years in her dance school- Ellora
Centre for Performing Arts.
She has been honoured with various awards
including the Gujarat State Sangeet Natak
Akademi Award, 2000-2001.
