Parinita Goswami began her artistic journey with noted
Bhaben Roy Patgiri as her first teacher of Hindustani
classical music. The late Badan Chandra Kalita, Sasanka
Kr. Kalita and Dr Kesavananda Dev Goswami instructed
her in Sattriya music, particularly the Borgeet, which
is the traditional Vaishnav music of Assam. A regular
artiste of Borgeet and modern song with AIR, Guwahati,
she has performed in the Khayal and Borgeet styles at
various music soirees and major festivals in Assam.
Under the aegis of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, zonal
cultural centres and various other organisations in
the last decade, she has lent vocal support in Borgeet
at several classical dance festivals. Parinita has published
articles on Sankardeva’s Borgeet and is currently
doing her doctoral research on Sankardeva as a music
composer. She has also been running a school for classical
music and Borgeet since 2006. There are few albums too
in her credits in both genres.
