Born
and educated in the beautiful lake town of Nainital,
Ravi Joshi received his initial training in classical
vocal from Dr. Rekha Sah and then under Nalin Dholakia
at the Kumar Gandharva School of music. At present a
disciple of Padmashri Pandit Madhup Mudgal, Ravi Joshi
is a promising young artist of remarkable talent. His
aesthetic and creative blend of contemplation in music
and technical excellence makes him stand apart amongst
his contemporaries in classical as well as devotional
music. His music has the ability to engage the audiences
and infuse poetry with meaning which shows not only
his sensitivity but also the gravity of his training
and practice. Apart from giving solo performances, he
continues to accompany his Guru Madhup Mudgal for various
programmes in India and abroad. A gold medalist and
a post graduate from Delhi University, he is at present
a lecturer at the Music Department, DSB Campus, Kumaon
University, Nainital.
